A'holy roller' is a derogatory or term of ignorance once used to describe a Pentecostal believer. In a denominational church that believes in the baptism with the Holy Spirit, besides speaking in tongues- known or unknown- there might be other manifestations of the infilling or presence of the Holy Spirit.I have seen people jump up and down, jump over pews like a hurdler, spin like a top while moving from the back to the front of the church, falling to the ground in a faint-like state etc. A stranger to such a church who is ignorant of the experience would label it.Jumper and holy roller are such synonymous terms some use to describe some Pentecostal'spirit-filled' believers. Some people use the term to indicate that they reject the experience.

The Holy Rollers were a Christian Sect of the 18th and early 19th century I believe. The did actualy fall down and roll about on the ground in their worship of God. There is no longer a group by that name. I am not sure that was their actual name but was what they were called by others at least.

I used to call all religious nuts that. most specificaly the Christians. Now I is one... Ironic

I do not follow any man created doctrins or dogma(religion). I have a personal relationship with my Lord and Master.

I am a self described stuck-to-the-pew Baptist. But many congrigations do get a bit carried away. I have seen some fall to the ground and shake a bit in some services... not my way though.

A Christian that takes the drug MDMA or ecstasy prior to Sunday service to have more empathy towards his or her Christian brethren.( Why do you hear of so many sex scandals in church.)The pastors would nail Rosie O Donnell on some strong "rolls". They love the light shows and the techno pop sound of the gospel music. I love the Sunday raves at the church until the pastor gets greedy and charges $25.00 a holy roll.

Someone who is Christian.. i.e. Not by the definition that Athiests give us .. but meaning Christ-like... the way that Christ is shown in the Bible... not just going through the motions.. i.e. RELIGIOUS.. as most Religious people like to refer to themselves as Christians..
By Holy Rolling it means those who preach the gospel or the word, testify, spread the message... out on the streets or door to door. Someone who "Holy Rolls" or Street ministers...

or some people say that it describes the Charismatic Christians... that jump, shout, speak in tongues, dance, sing, spin, etc... Worshipping God because of what he brought them out of... and who he is.. Because only that person knows how low and down they have been and where they came from... they are excited about everything God has done and is doing for them..

I am one of them by the way... : )

Now.. a Bible Thumper... is someone who reads the Bible all of the time... constantly spreading it's word... You never see them out and about without it...

Regular people, that are just as lost as the rest of us, if you been at one church for a lone time you watch them go and come and the ones that stay, you know if they are easy are not, it really reminds me of a bar I used to hang out at,
You know the ones faking it for the children
You know the ones fooling around on their spouse
Stuff like that, they are nice but quite mean they will stab you in the back if you give them a chance, just like a bar room, and the drink too

Pentecostals
They think the spirit is in them and makes them speak in tongues (unintelligible noises) and may literally roll around on the floor.

A person that is passionate about his/her faith. That's me. I don't get in people's faces with my beliefs but instead go as the spirit leads in a loving sort of way.

Matthew 5

5:10 Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

these kind of people
Praise God For Them!
