I know of one with a criminal record who started a "newspaper" in a town. Every time he was stopped (always with cause) he'd write something nasty. He'd publish outright lies and slanderous things as 'fact' then scream freedom of the press when criticized.
I've had - quite some years ago - a couple tickets. And you know what - I deserved it. I wasn't paying attention to speed and was driving too fast. Few things are important enough that an extra 5 minutes is an issue.
I've also seen both sides...for a while in another state had an older piece of crap car and ALWAYS got pulled over. I mean 2-3 times a month and seldom drove more than 5 miles. I know why, though no one would admit it. And it wasn't *me* - I'd drive the same way in another vehicle and wouldn't get stopped. The car wasn't illegal but was suspect. Was that the cops fault? no.
I can say there were people in that city that had FAR worse attitudes than the police officers.

Both hate cops. How often do you get pulled over? If its not often then you most likely will not continue to get pulled over. If you are pulled over alot then you have a bad situation for fighting any tickets in the future. You have set a precident that you are a bad driver and in court the judge will assume you are at fault and fine you even if you are wrongly accused. Unfortunately, Cops know this and use it to their advantage when filling illegal quotas. If they know the Prosecutor can easily get a conviction they will pull you over for the hell of it, because they know you won't fight it or if you do you will be at a severe disadvantage if you do so. Its alot easier for the average citizen to pay a $125 traffic fine than pay a lawyer $500 for the possibility of not paying court costs and fines, but guess what happens if the lawyer is a schmuck...thats right you pay the fine...thats $125...you pay the lawyer....thats $500...and you pay court costs....approx: $125....so for catching a cop on a bad day you can have a beaut of a time in the court house and come out owing $750 for "running a red light." How on earth is this fair? Its not and the cops know it so they will write most tickets just out of meanness and outright over-compensation for some character flaw they have...usually alcoholism, infedelity, and drug addiction.

I am a law abiding citizen and I have been abused by the police.
They had a warrant to do a drug search for the house next door.
Because they were too stupid to read the address on the warrant, they kicked down my door and destroyed my house by busting holes in the walls and cutting open my furniture. Then they arrested me and held me in jail for 20 hours without charging me so that I wouldn't be able to tip off the neighbor.
It took me four years of lawsuits to get the damages paid for.
I would say that I have every reason to hate the police.

Most criminals hate cops. Most of the law-abiding citizens who hate them just don't realize how much cops risk to protect us. Cops may seem arrogant and untrusting, but letting their guard down can easily get them killed.

People dislike cops because they are criminals. They steal, rape, and drive like maniacs because they know they can get away with it. If you doubt what I just said it's either because you are very young or you just don't read the newspapers. The poor man who had his house wrongly broken into is a good example of police arrogance and incompetence. Cops will gain respect when they deserve it.

I would say average law abiding citizens because I seen what hardships UNESSECARY tickets bring the average person and it makes them look at the situation as "I HATE THOSE BASTARDS!!" but for criminals they dont look at the situation as the police picking on them.

I'm no fan of the police. I have no criminal record. I don't believe that most people hate the police, but I believe the police use their badge as the excuse to be an asshole to anyone they please.
Just cause you wear a badge and have a gun doesn't mean that you're any more worthy of respect as anyone else. You have to give it to get it. And as far as "the job is tough"...hey, sell it someplace else, 'cause I ain't buying it. They knew the job was dangerous when they took it.

No-many people have a problem with them because of racial issues, or just because they think they are power-hungry. Actually, I would think that criminals wouldn't exactly hate the cops, just the law enforcement agency.

Cops choose to be what they are, and they are actually at less risk every day than construction workers and NYC cab drivers. I'm fairly straight-laced, but I still hate almost every cop I've met. I never asked for their "protection," don't want it, and I damn well don't want their god complex attitude, either.
