I have accepted Jesus into my heart and I care about people's souls, but I always feel deep down that I might just be doing it for the eternal rewards God will give. But in the bible doesnt it say to look forward to them. Like I wanna please God, but I just dont know where my heart is. What should I do? (dont just say "Stop thinking that way". its not that simple)

Based on the emails I've been getting, they said something along the lines of "it's simple, just accept Jesus into your heart" (sorry, I usually delete them quickly).

My guess is Once Saved, Always Saved, right?

Thankfully, Thou shalt not question thy beliefs is not one of the Commandments.

You have accepted Jesus. Have you confessed that He is Lord and that He is risen by God?

You ARE saved, if you have done this. You cannot lose your salvation, otherwise it wouldn't be *eternal* life. Indeed, if you keep your eyes on heavenly things, you will do well on the face of the earth. It may help you to consider Romans 10:9. Nothing in the Bible says you can't confess it more than once.

What you are experiencing is a sense of ourselves in comparison to the grace of God, the infinite grace of God. It is true that we are not worthy of the grace of God at all, but that is exactly what makes it the *grace* of God! It is a gift, not a "right."

I think eternal rewards is a pretty common goal. Personally, I think about Isaiah 11 a lot, I guess it sort of motivates me, just sounds so perfect:

Isaiah 11

2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD -

3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears;

4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth;
with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

5 Righteousness will be his belt
and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

6 The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling [a] together;
and a little child will lead them.

7 The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.

8 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra,
and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest.

9 They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
as the waters cover the sea.

Yes you are saved once you accept Jesus into your heart. You show the compassion of Christ in caring for peoples soul. In reality we are all doing things for the eternal reward we are to receive in Heaven. Yes we are to look forward to them. If not the He would not have told us about them. You show your heart is in the right place by saying you want to please God. Pray for Him to guard your heart. This doubting you feel is not from Him. Pray that He will show you ways to express the care you have for people. Always remember our reward is in Heaven and not of this world!! Never doubt that.

I think I know where you are. I've been there before. I think the best thing that you can do is to make sure you have things right with God. Make sure that you have a clean conscience. Ask God to show you what is wrong. Ask Him for guidance. It's not simple and it is not something that can be fixed overnight or maybe it can. I don't know. Just seek out God, study your Bible. Do you have a church home? Maybe you can counsel with your Pastor. HTH!

I had an incredible professor in my fall semester last year that would say that if you worry about having salvation, you have it. The fact that you worry means that you care and the fact that you care means that you want to be saved and if you want to be saved you can be. When you help others, don't do it for the rewards do it because that other person could be Jesus and you want Jesus to know that you really love and care for Him especially because He loved and cared enough for you that He gave up His life so you could live.

good question, how is your relationship with GOD, first of all, how long have you been a Christian, its always good to keep yourself into the word, along with prayer,going to church and being around other believers. Its always a good thing to witness to others about what GOD has done for you and in your life. I like to read the book of James it talks about faith, whenever I'm down or a little doubtful about something I like to read that book. In time He will give you a calling to where He wants you to be.

I understand exactly how you feel. We all feel that we don't measure up, and are unworthy of God's grace. Well, that's because we aren't worthy. But in Christ's sacrifice we have all been washed of original sin and consequent sins. Once saved, always saved. Just go about your life trying to leave the world a little bit better than when you found it.

Get into a Bible class and get to know your Lord better. That has helped me so much.

Your salvation doesn't depend on you or the amount of faith you have. It hangs completely on what Jesus did for you at the cross.

What you are missing is the JOY of knowing how much your Heavenly Father loves you.

If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord - that's basically it. Also, if you are a believer, you have the power of the Holy Spirit which you can sense as well your 'works' would begin to shift towards glorifying God rather than your self.
