SON OF GOD BORN IN CRAP-FILLED MANGER?

2006-06-30 09:06:55 · 15 answers · asked by Kenny ♣ 5 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

Yes, I'm aware there weren't newspapers 2000 years ago (but thanks for pointing that out masters of the obvious)

It's called speculation - anyone want to play?

Don't believe there was such a date. But if it did exist and there were newspapers I'm sure it said, "Santa Claus misses obscure manger in Bethlehem."

There were no headlines. Jesus wasn't born on Dec 25 and there technically was no year 0000. But if all these things were true then yes it would read that. The Son of God came from very humble beginnings and now sits at the right hand of the Father.

He was born in a crap-filled manger. But no newspaper reported it. Very few people understood the significance of his birth.

Wise men - possibly astronomers from ancient Persia knew that the Messiah was to be born on that day. That is why they came bringing him gifts. But the majority of the human race was comletely clueless that the creator of the entire universe was going to be born as a human being on the earth.

Do you understand the significance of his birth today even if it does not make the newspapers?

Hate to break it to you but there were no newspapers back then and December 25 was a date decided on for observance much later.

News came by word of mouth back in those days - and I believe that night the herald said:

"Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord ."

Had there been newspapers, and had the jesus myth been real, it wouldn't have had anything in there about the birth of joseph's son...Dec. 25th was chosen for xmas because it was near a similar Pagan holiday, so easier to get the Pagans to convert...according to the bible, the character of jesus was actually born some time in the Spring (when shepherd's had their flocks in the fields, which doesn't happen during winter)...

Who knows, but it wouldn't have read about the birth of Jesus because he wasn't born December 25, that was a day adopted from Roman festivals and has nothing to do with Jesus. To bad some peole don't take the time to research holidays before celebrating them!

It didn't become that date until quite a few years after and it is believed that it was actually the 5th of January. These stories were written at the earliest decades later if not longer.

He wasn't actually born on 12/25 so the headline (which didn't exist) wouldn't have mentioned Jesus.

There is no proof that jesus was born on that date its just a day that sombody pick that the world would celebrate his birth, but its was his death, thats was the most important.

Jesus was actually born in April, so your question is fallacious in nature and context.
