It's not working because the drive to have sex becomes too great in the end and of course these people are not prepared resulting in unwanted teen pregnancies. Wouldn't it achieve better results to issue these teens with chastity devices instead of jewellery so that they cannot physically succumb to temptation even if their willpower is lacking...there are plenty of modern day devices available apparently? Chastity is a popular sexual fetish in itself and such devices can easily be ordered on the internet it is reported.

Of course in my opinion there is no substitute for proper unbiassed sex education for all plus easier access to prophylactics, then the abstinence thing can be a real and informed choice.

I love how people always find loopholes. A study showed that high schoolers who took the abstinence pledge were 6 times more likely to have or@l sex. If I had known that when I was in high school, I would have been the first one to sign up.

I am over the hill with an open mind about the young. I was never promiscuous or wild but I feel that it is extremely hard for the young to go with the chastity rules. It is commendable but if it is do-able in great numbers I am not so sure. As a parent I think we also must explain what consequences, perhaps the parent has a great relationship with the child and may be a better influence if this is discussed. A lot of parents do not want to face up to such a conversation or are embarrassed.

I don't know how many of them would willingly put on a chastity device. On top of that, it's supposed to be more about self control. The teenagers don't need to be taught about sex, they need to be taught about self control. They know the down sides of sex before marriage, all the public schools teach it, but schools don't teach self control. Hey, maybe if we could teach self control we could also cut back on obesity, drug abuse, and hatred.

part of growing up is being free to learn to make good choices and make mistakeds in the process. A ring, as a reminder, is a learning tool. A chastiy belt is truly bondage and a person learnd nothing.

What evidence?
How does one persons evidence relevant to another?
Are you not aware by now of freewill and choice and that what works for some may not work for all, and how is the actions of a few dictative of the actions of all?

Please be mindful of your judgments for it leaves little room for diversity, individuality, culture, context, traditions and ethos.

People are going to have sex. They always have, and they always will. Maybe it would be better to grow beyond the mentality of ancient goat herders.

Is it really so horrible if teens have sex?

What??? the better thing would be to put teenage girls on birth control, and instead of saying, this is so you can have carefree sex, say 'these are hormone pills. they make your period....easier' that sounds more realistic
