I dont think christians are trying to drag the world back in to the dark ages. I think there is a very strong struggle for power and a lot of things have gone wrong and are going wrong. This always happens when people think they have the power.
Christianity has become unhealthy. It is too divided and at the same time it is fighting to keep control because the other power, namely islam, is trying to destroy the world and it is actually islam that is dragging the world back into the dark ages.
If islam wins, there will be devastation on this earth. At least some sort of sense is being maintained in the world by the christian church. Otherwise, the world would have been a nasty place to live in where islam would have slaughtered every one who did not believe in their religion.
The other religions, one of which is hinduism, have suffered immensely in the mean time.
That does not justify the irregularities of the church but at least some kind of order still exists in the world.
So I would suggest you put the blame where it is due.

No, but the Earth First people would prefer it.
Many of my neighbors here in this Liberal community around the University of AZ would prefer the Dark Ages. None of them are Christians, they are all Pagans and assorted atheist, Scientologist, etc.. They all hate America because of its wealth and prefer communalism, free sex with any unwashed like minded person, and take drugs to feel good after wards. They wear rags, pierce their bodies and don`t bath just as in the Dark Ages. They have dropped out of society because when they went to University they were taught the same untruths you have learned.
It was the Christians and their philosophy that made this country the greatest county on Earth. It was the Christian movement that freed the slaves around the world. It was the Americans and their Christian foundations that pushed to free the slaves of totalitarianism around the world. It was this Country and its Christian foundations that has freed 1 billion people since 1945.
It was the Atheist that killed under Communism, Fascism, Nazism, 150,000,000 people. The Atheist Communist Dictators are still doing it today. 45,000 a year die in the death camps of N Korea. China still has its camps as does Cuba.
Christians demand nothing of you. Yet to become a Christian in most Muslim countries is the death penalty. To be gay is the death penalty. To commit adultery is the death penalty. To get raped is to be sent to prison and risk being charged with adultry and the death penality.
This is what the Muslim radicals want for you,
The Dark Ages!

No, but the President of the US and his administration backed by the Christian Coalition, are going to get half the world bombed back to the stone age with the powder keg they have lit in the Middle East. First Iraq, then Iran and the US backed Israelis shooting missiles and bombing Lebanon.
Christians are aiding Judism to drag us into a Holocaust. Put the blame where it belongs!

Oh absolutely.
The denial of the facts of Evolution. Denying same-sex couples the human right to marry are just two examples of how christians are dragging the US backwards while the rest of the world strides forward.
You are 100% correct and from the ignorant replies I think you can pat yourself on the back, you've really touched a nerve with these christians.

No they aren't , but they are trying to maintain a belief that is thousands of years old. There is no room for the changing times in Christianity.. as the world changes .. Christianity doesn't. They still abhor sex before marriage and divorce, they still think that people shouldn't cheat on each other, they still think that children should honor their parents. they still think that homosexuality is wrong.. those are teachings that will stand the test of time.. that has nothing to do with the dark ages.. they are rules of life for Christians.

I agree with you especially based upon the numerous answers you've already received. Christians believe in doing things one way...and according to them thats the "right way" . Anything else is wrong. Dragging the world back into the Dark Ages is their way of regaining control. Now a days its believed that if you are not a Christian then you worship "Satan". What about those of us that are Pagan and don't believe in a "Satan" or a "God".

No, not the dark ages. They are trying to bring us into the new ages where abortions are possible but punished as severely as murder. An age where homosexuals would be punished if ever openly showing it. Schools would be required to teach the bible. Some Christians are cool though. I'm not saying everyone is like that.

I think that it is not so much Christians per se, but american right wing conservatives. They truly do seek to recreate a feudal system whereby the masses will serve the wealthy (and "royal") few; the only connection with christianity is that these ghouls have used religion as a means of grabbing votes from an undereducated, quasi-literate, and opinionated few who exist in an intellectual backwater and are capable of comprehending anything only in the most simplified, literal sense.

it's unfair to assume the most vial answers are coming from christians when you don't know the identity of the person responding, the question deserves an honest and fair answer not sarcasm the only person qualified to drag you into the dark ages is you and the lack of understanding and knowledge, without these key elements sin and ignorance will consume all your light.

No. It is the sin and lack of morals that will drag us back to the dark ages, just like after the fall of Rome, and Greece, and the Aztecs, and the Incas, etc. It is the normal cycle of civilization, regardless of the religion followed.
