Don't putt to much stock in either. If you want good security then do this, assuming you have CABLE/DSL/Other high speed internet.
1. Use nat router such as any linksys or perhaps even the one that you got from you ISP, this protects you from all unrequested incoming traffic. This does not help you with what you catch from browsing the web or email which brings us to
2. What kind of email do you use? most ISPs filter their email. The simple way to protect yourself here is don't open anything are not familar with and avoid Outlook or Outlook Express if possible.
3. As for browsing the internet, ditch Internet Explorer and use an alternative browser such as FireFox which is the most popular.
4. As far as the antivirus software goes, it doesn't really matter. If you have taken care of securing your network, internet browser, and email then it is extremely unlikely that you will have virus or other malware on your computer. Personally I use Clam Antivirus which only does static (ondemand/scheduled) scans and Adaware/Spybot on occasion.

Norton > Mcaffe in terms of security and price as far as I can tell. However, if you want virus protection, the best thing out there is common sense (the kind that's not so common). Read up about how viruses work, about network security, and you will be more protected than if you have any virus detecting software or firewall out there. All it comes down to is knowing what you're doing - in the end, it's your choice to run "HOT-BRITNEY-SPEARS-SCREENSAVER.EXE" or not, to click the link that says "FREE IPODS" or not, to not set an Administrator password on an open network or not.

I have McAfee, and it never finds anything although it seems to be downloading updates- and therefore slowing my computer to a crawl - everytime I get on the internet. And in the last week my computer has slowed to a crawl despite my firewall, anti-adware and McAfee software. It's all rubbish. I don't think my computer was as bad when it had Norton software.

I used to have Norton's, but got a virus that would turned it off. I notified Norton's and they never even replied. Also, they never updated to detect the offending virus, nor did they offer any help in anyway, like they didn't want my business, so I obliged. Then I tried McAfee, and it was much better, but I don't think it had a firewall when I got it, so I changed to Trend / Pc-cillin. I have also tried AVG at odd times, but I think Pc-cillin is better.

That would depend on how a BNP **** like yourself would judge equal oppurtunities employers like mcafee which incedently is an Irish name, in caseyour racist little IQ cant figure that out for yourself. Norton has to be the one for you as it is the only one provided by British Telecom but again employ's all creeds and colours. I am glad it makes you feeel protected as you ar as a racist an endangered species. See the light before its too late.

Never tried McAfee but believe me, Norton is highly over-rated. It will tell you how many viruses you have, but it will also say that nothing can be done about it. Try looking elsewhere (free stuff like Spybot, AVG etc)

AVG free download. I have heard that Norton will mess up your system....... McAfee better, but go for the free one. SpyBot and AdAware free downloads are brilliant too. Norton doesn't work too well with xp firewall.
