check out any breed you may be interested in with a rescue group that specializes in that breed. They will be happy to inform you of all the pros and cons (and yes, all breeds have both, the perfect dog has not been born yet) of owning one. Only you can decide what kind of dog will work for you and your lifestyle. Start with what size you'd be interested in. Then what you personally like in the way of looks, long hair or short hair, white, black or brown, or a mixture of colors. Then go from their to a breed. Just realize you are bringing in a new member of the family and it is a relationship that will last a long time, so get as much information as you can to make an informed decision. Then go fall in love with the first little fuzz ball that steals your heart and make it your own.

Try adoption at a shelter. Pick any of the multi mixed breeds. They make the best, loving, loyal pets. AND, I have owned expensive, pedigree, fancy papers and all dogs, as well as mutts. Mutts are usually healthier, easier to train, more calm and relaxed and they love you to death. Give a shelter dog a chance. OK????? Good Luck!

Honestly, unless you want to get a pure breed, which are expensive and normally have a lot of health problems...usually dogs with the best temperment, health, etc. are mutes. We've had our dog for almost 16 years now and she's been the best. She's part pomeranian and who knows what else...

CHIHUAHUA

Well, it depends on the space you have..I live in an apt and have a chihuahua..He's kept in a cage (for a lack of a better word) while I'm a work and I let him out when I get back home..He's small and very much a lap dog...He's easy to control on a leash. Small dogs make small messes as far as potty training goes. Matter of fact he's asleep on my lap right now...Very loyal pets..:)

If you want a big funny dog: St. Bernard
If you want a fancy dog: Poodle
If you want a family dog: Golden Retriever
If you want a fast dog: Adopt A retired Greyhound
If you want a hunting dog: Blood hound.
and collie-golden retriever mixes are always fun!

must take into account if they're gonna be around small children or not and if you want a small or large dog

my opinion small dog that is good with children or even with older couple is a pug and large dog would be boxer

both are wonderful with children and around families

If you are girly, maybe a cute small dog like a chihuahua or a pomerainian. If you are a busy or tomboyish person maybe a labrador or something.

For a small dog, a Pomeranian. For a bigger dog, I like Weimaraners. They are so loyal, smart and very energetic.

Awesome dog.
