A church wedding is just a show infront of your family and friends. I mean, I want to get married in the church but that doesn't mean my marriage will be more blessed and last longer than someone who was married at a beach, home, court house, etc. I believe as long as they acknowledge God as the head of their household, all is well.

I think weddings, for the most part, are ceremonial and not necessary. The bride's family usually ends up spending way too much money on something that I consider to be superficial. They are just as married as someone who married in a church. Do these relatives consider those married on a hilltop or at the beach or anywhere else not in a church unmarried also?

I think that where they were married is not nearly as important as whether or not the have a strong and happy marriage, and I wish them the best of luck! Too bad that the relatives can't seem to keep their mouths shut - they should be wishing nothing but good upon this couple!

A church is not required for two people to be married. They should just ignore those relatives that have an issue with it. God doesn't exist only in the church.

Let's see now, they're legally married, happy together, and their parents are okay with it. What do the relatives have to do with anything? Are they supporting the couple; are they fantastically rich and planning to leave them billions of $$; are they providing any type of financial or emotional support? Sounds to me like the relatives need to get a life -- the couple already has a pretty good one.

It is a legal marriage no matter how it was performed. That is the only thing that matters. Ignore the people who have something negative to say. You have to remember that some people do not practice any type of religion, and they get married. They are still legal and that is the most important part of it.

The marriage is legal so it's fine. If the relatives have a problem with it then get them to spring for the church wedding.

Do I understand that you're married by like a judge or whatever but just never had a religious ceremony? If that's the case tell your relatives to shut their yaps and find something else to harp on.

Its their life. Their family should just be happy they are married.
My mother-in-law was mad that my husband and I married in a historic park instead of the Church, and she got over it.
They just need to be happy for them!

as long as the couple is happy together and love each other, that is what is important...god exists everywhere, be it in a court room, on the beach, in your home...not just in a church and i am sure god is happy that they are together, no matter what
