Food coloring, I would think. Though sometimes I've had pink lemonade with strawberry or raspberry added, and that makes it pink too. ;)

In some cases raspberries or strawberries provide the color but usually (especially in the case of those powered drink mixes) I think food coloring is the culprit. Ever had a lemmon-berrie slush from Sonic, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM YUMMY!

from what I understand, a performer of some type put his red tights in the barrell used to mix lemonade at some circus or fair. When they discovered them, the citric acid had bleached out some of the dye in the cloth, et viola!!
