J.P. Moorland has some great books about this, but I can't think of what they are called. But the Bible was definentally not eastern mythical books put together by Jews and Christians. There is NO historical evidence to back that claim up. It also did not just fall from heaven.
Edit: The DaVinci Code is not a very good direction to go to get historical evidence about the Bible. It is ficition, as you can see from the first page when he says that the secret society is real. It's not real, why think the rest of the book is accurate?

Well, the books of the Bible in the New Testament are actually the disciples' accounts of the acts of Jesus and of other significant events in their lives (except for Ephesians, which is actually a letter from Paul to the Gentiles, but whatever). The Old Testament was also written by other significant Biblical figures and prophets, like Moses, who is credited with the recording of the Ten Commandments.

The Bible originated from God, in the bible there's a verse that says "the word was God and the word is God". He gave words to the disiples and prophets to write down and remember. They originate from the dead sea scrolls which scholars have translated into different versions, the most acurate is the King James Version, read it sometime!
