It is tradition that God's name is never to be written or spoken. God is not God's real name but many out of respect will delete the o.
God is often refered to in jewish cultures as the One who's name is not spoken.

Because god .. is just like any other god...
God.. is the one true God. The Alpha and Omega. Beginning and the End. Master, Savior.
God is THE only God.
Plus.. if it's G-D.. they are too lazy to put the O in?
I'm a Non-Denominational Christian (Trinitarian Pentecostal)

i think this started with the Jews, who viewed the name of God as so holy they would not completely spell his name, and it was written as YHWH. They never spoke his name, for fear of mispronouncing it. I have noticed that it is mostly Jews who have embraced Christianity who do this, but I think more people are beginning to.

Mostly it's intended as respectful by people who don't know that the word "God" is NOT a name. It's what He IS.
My name is one thing, but human is NOT my name. It's what I AM. Understand?
God's NAME is YHWH. Hebrew has no vowels so we don't have a clue how it's really pronounced. But His NAME means "I AM".
WHO He is is YHWH. WHAT He is is God.
WHO I am is Granny Annie. WHAT I am is human.
And I'm Catholic, btw.

He is God, He is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is LORD, He is the one that died for your sins on the cross. He is the one that can take you to heaven if you would only believe what He done for you, Romans 4: 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

I think they're either afraid to write it or think for some reason they'll get in trouble.
