There's a diet that is supposed to boost your metabolism. You eat 900 calories one day, 1200 the next, 1800 the next and repeat. Or something like that. You might try searching the internet to see if you can find the details of it. Sorry I don't remember the name.

There's only one effective way to increase your metabolism, and that's to exercise.
You need to improve two aspects of your body: the functioning of your cardiovascular system and the amount of muscle you have.
A heart rate monitor is your best friend here.
Cardio workouts increase the functioning of your heart and lungs, increasing the oxygen in your system and helping burn extra calories effectively. You need to stay in a high heart rate for thirty minutes to an hour every other day to see results.
To increase muscle, you need resistance exercises. Weightlifting is the traditional way of doing it, though there are machines - notably the ergometer, or rower (it's got a big wheel in front, not stupid hydralic arms) - which also offer resistance. To improve muscle mass, you need to perform slow, controlled movements.
Talk to a personal trainer and/or dietician for other advice.

1. eat smaller portions more often...basically don't let yourself feel hungry. if your body feels hunger, metabolism will slow down (your body's way of adapting to the fact it doesn't have food...survival mechanism).
2. exercise! working out or doing cardio for an hour will throw your metabolism into overdrive for a few hours. let's say you burn 300-400 calories in an hour exercising...your body will think that you need LOTS of energy so it will burn pretty much everything it can for energy (*thinking* you will be needing this energy). this is probably the best way to boost metabolism. of course you gotta eat if you workout or else your body will just break itself down.
you get increased muscle mass by lifting weights. having more muscle causes your body to burn more calories just to maintain them...for example, you will burn more calories walking if you have larger leg muscles since it takes more energy to operate them.

People are born with a certain metabolism. It's hereditary, you get it from your family. If you have a low metabolism all you need to do is work extra hard. I know it's tough but hang in there. =)

eat 5 small meals rather than 3 large ones.. this way it regulates your blood sugar and doesn't allow your body to go into 'starvation' mode between meals and slows it down.
exercise every day that you can... (6-7 a week is perfect at about 20 min. - 30 min. of exercise)

eat 5 small meals a day. Eat no later than one hour after waking up. Allow no longer than 3 hours to go by with out eating. Excersice.. the key is to burn more calories than you consume but to not put you body into "shock" by not eating---yout body will start thinking that food is scarce and no matter what you eat or how you are working out you body will try to protect itself and store "anything" that you eat into fat.
