google BMI...
they have many BMI calculators that will help you out and determine what your BMI is--moreover, they have ranges of underweight, right weight, overweight BMI numbers

body mass index is the proportion of how tall you are and how much you weigh--obviously, a taller person will weigh more, and a shorter person, less.

one flaw in BMI is that it doesn't tell you what KIND of weight you have--for example, a professional athlete will have a high BMI and it looks like they are overweight, yet that is wrong since muscle weighs much more than fat does

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person’s weight and height. BMI provides a reliable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems.

BMI = Your weight (kg) / [ Height (m) x Height (m) ]

It's a basic measure of how healthy you are according to your weight and height.

Obesity and Fat
Being overweight or obese is a leading risk factor for type 2 diabetes. A healthy weight is measured by your body mass index (BMI). A BMI of 25 or more is considered overweight. A BMI of 30 or more is obese. If your BMI is over 25, you are at higher risk. In addition to how much you weigh, where your extra fat is stored can also affect your health. Having an "apple shaped" body (extra fat around your middle) rather than "pear shaped" body (extra fat around your hips) raises risk for heart disease.

BMI= [weight in Lbs /( heights in inches x height in inches ) ] x 703

or

BMI = Weight in kilograms/ (height in meters X height in meters)

Getting a number between 18.6 and 24.9 means you are at a healthy or normal weight. Getting less than 18.5 means you're underweight. Between 25 and 29.9 means you're overweight, and 30 or more means you're obese.

Unfortunately this doesn't figure in for some things, for instance your body fat ratio. I know a man who's very, very muscularly built, and he's short, but his BMI indicates he's morbidly obese, though he has almost no body fat. So keep in mind this is only one measure of health.

The BMI is one way to determine whether or not an adult is overweight. BMI assesses height and weight; muscle mass is not a part of the equation.

BMI is calculated by dividing a person's weight (in kilograms) by his or her height (in meters, squared). BMI can also be calculated by multiplying weight (in pounds) by 705, then dividing by height (in inches) twice.
