I own a cross bred Yorkshire Terrier, named Thimble. He is so lovable and boistrous and loved playing with other dogs. He is full of beans when I take him out over the fields for his walkies etc,. and runs around with other dogs. When I get home he is ok for a while then he starts to sulk as he gets lonely despite my being there with him. My vet has suggested that I should get him a soul mate, hence my reason for asking my question.

Also, depending on where you live, your local shelter or Humane Society usually have many types and breeds.

there are plenty of rehoming centres. Look under rescue centres or charities in yellow pages. Or you could place an ad in local papers and pet stores stating the sort of dog you are after, age size temperament etc. Or you could ring the rspca to find out your local shelter, the number is usually at the front of the phone book. Good luck.

My sister adopted a Miniature Doberman Pincher from a min-pin rescue organization and she loves it. You can also look for the Greyhound adoption centers for the racing greyhounds that are too old to race. The human society has them or look in the local paper for people giving away dogs that they don't want.

Try your local Humane Society or SPCA. I've even gotten a couple of really great dogs from Animal Control.
