Hey Guy,When Hagar the caveman was doing his celebratory dance around the first fire with his raw mammoth steak in his hand.He tripped on a rock and the raw meat fell into the fire.So he took his spear and tried to get the meat out.But it kept falling off the spear tip back into the flames. When he was finally able to spear the meat and pull it out of the fire.It was cooked medium well. And to Hagars amazement,It was delicious. He shared it with his caveman buddies. And the rest is history.Today Hagars ancestors are the Ceo's and Cfo's of Burger King...

When fire was discovered, early man discovered that cooking the meat made it taste better, but unknown to them it did so much more. Adding heat causes a change at the molecular level in meats and adds nutrients which helped to further brain development, So as luck would have it, humans evolved from eating meat. So next time a vegetarian tells you that humans shouldn't eat meat show them your teeth, teeth that evolved to rip and tear meat!

I'm a man and I still don't cook food.
Isn't it ironic that all the best chefs in the world are men?
Great. Now I have Alanis Morrisette stuck in my freakin' head.

A probable explanation is that after natural terrain fires occured, man found that animals and other eatibles found in the fields where fires had just died out, tasted much better than eating them raw. Don't laugh-- could be !

I think the forest fire answer is good. Or did you see "caveman" with Ringo Starr , Barbara Bach and the woman that was in "hello again"? What was her name? (really funny movie) It may have happened like the scenes in that movie. During an argument over a big bird across a fire.
