Could you go to a hair salon to do it? If you still get a brassy colour at the roots maybe you have the wrong shade to start with and it is a case of putting up with the colour you get, or gong a colour that will suit your hair. If you still want to go ahead, use a toner after going blender with bleach, keep out of chlorine and sunlight.

Definatley go to a salon.

The amount of natural red pigment in the hair is what creates the brassy tone. If you want full head bonde they might not do it unless you sign a waver, as salons cannot use bleach, or 12% peroxide (which will be needed to lift it to blonde) when applying it straight to the scalp.

Hilites are an option, and wont leave your hair so danaged.

They will use either an ash blonde, or pearl blonde, which has a small amount of blue in it to kick out the brassy "orange" tones

Definately go to a professional! If you have really dark hair naturally, it may not be possible to go really light blonde as the only way to go lighter is by bleaching. Depending on how many shades lighter you are going, this could cause so much damage. A professional will be able to recommend what would suit your colourings too - it's really easy to get the tones wrong.

flow on your nearest Sally attractiveness and ask for a tone correcter for brassy hair. it would nicely be pink. positioned some drops into your shampoo yet in person-friendly words wash your roots with the purpled shampoo, go away it on for a minute or 2. It received't carry out any miracle, yet you would see a mild progression.
