Lots of veggies. But the right ones. Atkins has a few great books with the calorie/carb count. It will surprise you. It is "Easier" to avoid the bad things in my opinion. Bad Carbs? Pasta, Sugar, Potatoes and so on.

Your main foods:
Eggs, cheese, meat (all kinds), fresh vegetables (low sugar), fresh fruits (low sugar-stay away from bananas). After a couple of weeks, start adding in nuts and some grain. Drink alot of water, avoid alcohol, soft drinks, tea, coffee etc... Don't go totally carb free though. After a couple of weeks ease up on the no carbs..go to low carb. If you want half a slice of bread each day...have it. Keep portions of the following VERY low: bread, rice, pasta, tortillas etc... If you are going to eat something with carbs, like bread, try to stick with crusty whole wheat types and minimize portions.

When buying red meat make sure its lean. Chicken - breast meat. Ground turkey. Tuna in water and fresh fish. For breakfast have eggs scrambled with turkey kielbasa. Don't eat the yokes if you already have high cholesterol. Also if your trying to watch your fats then don't eat too many yokes because they contain 4 grams of fat. Mixed nuts. Green salad with fat free or light dressing, sweet potatoes, broccoli. Soy milk instead of regular milk. For those days that you must have pasta get wheat. Bread - get wheat or whole grain.
