Because when you are approached by a group of people showing a dominance in calling another girl a slut, even though you could very well be on the same level as her "sluttage", it makes you look more respectable because you are labeling her.

Women call other women sluts is either they envy or jealous of that person, the way they dress or flirts with men and get what they want and perhaps what that woman is doing the other woman don't have body or mind for it.
