Paris is one of the best places on earth! you should definatly go there once in your life! it's a big city though. you'll find it much better if you can meet some people there (native). it's a bit of a cliche but it is really romantic, and romantical!

Paris can be disappointing at first. When you ride on the metro system or take a cab, you will see a lot of grafitti. Also, the city is very old, so many of the buildings are depriciating. Dogs are allowed almost anywhere, even in some restaurants, so there is a lot of dog feces on the sidewalks.

However, if you can get past all of that, the rest of the city is spectacular. (Especially in late May and June when the flowers are in bloom) The tourist sites are amazing. I was not once disappointed when I went to see things like the Louvre or Notre Dame. It is a very art and history oriented city, so if you are not interested in those things, you may not have a good time.

The night life is a lot of fun. The Red Light District, which is where the Moulin Rouge is located, is great fun and has some interesting clubs. The restaurants are okay. The ones that are less pricey actually tend to be better. One that I would recommend is the Dome by the Eiffel Tower.

The people can indeed be rude at times. However, if you try to speak to them in French, even if you butcher it horribly, they are often very kind and helpful. They tend to be rude to people because people assume they will be and come over with an attitude. If you assume they will be kind and treat them nicely, it will be reciprocated.

I loved Paris. It was a wonderful place to visit and I hope to go again soon!

I love Paris. I'm planning my seventh trip to Paris...I really haven't had any problems at all.

No, the Parisians aren't as overtly friendly as we are here in the U.S. If you walk down a Parisian boulevard with a big smile plastered on your face, it's a sign of senility. The Parisians are more reserved, saving genuine niceness and such for their friends. They do like to talk about politics. They do not hate Americans, they're just not big fans of Bush, for the most part.

The Parisians are very polite people. Learn a few phrases and you're good to go. Don't demand that they speak English. Say "Merci" and "S'il Vous Plait."

I found Paris beautiful. You do not realize how young the US is until you travel to Europe. The Louvre is beautiful...inside and out. The Eiffel Tower illuminated at night...beautiful. The Rodin Museum and garden is beautiful. There is so much to see and do. A walk along the Seine is nice. Versailles...wow, that's about the only word that will sum up that castle. Champs-Elysees is fabulous. Notre-Dame Cathedral and Sacre-Couer Basilica are absolutely fabulous.

Paris is very nice.

I've been visiting Paris every couple of years for the last 35 years or so.

Its a wonderful city.

Its very compact as a far as a visitor will be concerned. Most of the sights, restaurants and night spots are within a few metro stops of each other and a visitor will often be able to simply walk.

Although there are many expensive hotels, restaurants and such there is also a great variety of inexpensive or moderately priced places for the visitor.

Paris is a city that "never sleeps." Clubs and bars often stay open until daybreak and the city is relatively safe so you can walk around late at night with minimal concern.

Paris is very nice.
We enjoyed the beautiful buildings, Eiffel Tower, great food, ice cream, museums, river cruise and the people.
Yes, we ran into some nice French people who were kind and generous. Walking around the city stopping in the bakery, little stores and groceries was also fun.
Unfortunately I was pick pocketed getting into the subway. You have to watch your wallet and be aware of the surrounding.
It is a pretty romantic place. One can go back several times without getting bored (may be not every year).

my grandpa went a long time ago and he said it was very dirty

my uncle (by marriage) went and he said ppl were so very rude to him...one of them made a comment about him being american as he was stepping off a bus or something and spit at his feet
he is very educated and well mannered, etc....it was simply because he was american

so from what i hear, its not a great place but i suppose you cant judge a whole country by what 2 ppl tell you or what one person on a bus does.
