I would like a stable life but I have a family that's way too dysfunctional for that. My life is rather exciting, full of huge ups and downs. Its not ideal but its what I have so I've learned to deal with it. Drama stalks me. I think its because I attract crazy people, haha.

I'd rather live the former rather than the latter. Living life with ups & downs teaches you patience, compassion, mercy, justice, empathy, love, & tolerance (among others). Although it makes life unpredictable, we must learn to adapt to what life throws at us so we can learn from the situation & mistakes we made so we can become better than ourselves the next time a similar situation comes our way.
We wouldn't be able to learn anything from a stable life with no ups & downs. "Stability", according to dictionary.com, means:
"a. Resistance to change, deterioration, or displacement.
b. Constancy of character or purpose; steadfastness.
c. Reliability; dependability. "
How can we learn from a steady lifestyle? How can we learn to be more compassionate, merciful, loving human beings if we have nothing to base our emotions on?

Life's emotional roller coaster was fun at times but later when my self awareness grew and i followed my heart alot more I entered a much bigger more engulfing adventure which is in a playground out side of the emotional ups and downs but it is far from safe and secure.. On that note you can be safe and secure on the roller coaster. Get of it quick because their is another world waiting for your attention and presence.

Interesting question.
I came from the first one, and often wished for the second. Now I have both. I have huge ups and downs, and no safety or security in the world, but endless safety and security and love in Christ. It works for me.

Life is a big history lesson. When you have ups and downs, make ups to break ups it teaches you how to handle these situations in the future.
Live life to the fullest and remember: "What goes around comes around". "Treat people as you want to be treated".
Unfortunately there is no such thing as Safe and Secure.

Since you can really experience or enjoy the highs without any lows, I think I would be somewhere in the middle
