Because people compartmentalize their lives. I do the God thing here, I act this way around those friends, I do these things around others. That's the way a lot of people are. Chameleon's :)

Because, they are either nominal Christians ( which means that they are Christians inside the church only ), or they are newly convert and do not yet know the correct behavior ( hard as that is to believe, as if they had a true conversion then they will automatically know ), or they are not Christians at all, but are ( as so many are ) in the church for the contacts that it brings ( be a member and get a discount ). That kind of thing gives any organization a bad name. So the next time you see a 'Christian' doing wrong, you can be pretty sure that that person is NOT a Christian.

When someone enters a church, it makes them no more a Christian than if you walk into a pet store and are suddenly considered a dog or cat.
As with any meeting group, whether it be the Elks Lodge, the Rotary Club, even Congress, there are those who have a different agenda than the official one held by the organization.
If you were the devil, wouldn't you want to place "your" people in the mix, so that everyone on Yahoo that wants to can say "All Christians are hypocrites."? Sure you would.
Jesus Himself stated that this would be the case. "He told another parable to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade grew, and brought forth fruit, then the weeds appeared also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? How did you get weeds? He said to them, An enemy did this. The servants said to him, Do you want us to go and gather them up? But he said, No; you might gather up the weeds, and root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather first the weeds, and tie them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."

Some people are hypocrites, no matter what denomination they are in. Some people like to go to church to show "Oh look, I'm Christian. Look, I'm at church!" Some people do it to make themselves feel better for the bad things they do outside of church. And some just go because they went to church when they were younger (aka their parents made them) so its just a habit.

Because they are living worldly lives. We are supposed to stand out from the rest of the world as believers. I am trying my best to be obedient to the Lord. I had my cable turned off. Threw movies and books away that were not Godly. I am more aware now in what my children are doing and taking in. The world is a corrupt place and it is so easy to do what our neighbor or friend is doing even if we know its not right. We just have to be strong and take the looks and comments we get from others to be obedient to God. May God Bless You

I hate those people who do this...it's disguisting...I mean they are soooo like the pharisees(did I spell that correct?)...Jesus had the most problems with those religius priest n' people...It's a bad thing that people like these exist...but the exist...not all christians are like this.....a real christian does what the bible tells him/her....
So i'm sorr yif someone is an atheist because of these bad people...it's a shame of the Church, but all I can do is pray that the Lord will change these people.

Because they have not fully let God into their hearts, we as humans make mistakes everyday this is expected for only God and his son were perfect. All we are expected to do is live as Christ life as we can, and when we error he forgives. People should not let these type of people keep them from believing in God. Just because you stand in a church and sing every Sunday doesn't make you a Christians. Just remember living Christ like makes you a true Christians. You can have your own thoughts of him and say your own prayers wherever you are - he listens!

One of the biggest reasons is people are not totally sold out to God they have a form of God but deny the power When a person really has God in their life it won't matter if they are in church or out of church their life will reflect God all the way. Hope this helps a little bit God bless you.

Hhhmm....like so many people I know. The believe they are "putting in their time" with God. They think by going to church once a week will get them into heaven. And they call themselves Christians.
