If your issue is temporary and you know you'll be on firmer ground within a few months or so, most utility companies (at least in CO) are very good about payment arrangements. I've gotten some really good service from Excel Energy when times got a little tight. They gave me really easy and reasonable payments for like 6 months. If you haven't emplained your situation and asked for help from the utilities themselves yet, try that.

Call the Metro Care Ring, on 18th Street in Denver, by Children's Hospital. 303-860-7200.

Or ask your energy company to give you numbers of orgs. that can help. Good luck!
