the Bible does say it's a bad idea to drink too much alcohol. I don't think it's a sin to cook with wine or have a sip of it. but getting drunk and acting stupid, the Bible does mention not to that.
I think the point is to avoid being intoxicated. don't put something in your body that will control it or change it to the point you're acting stupid.

Bible doesn't. It does say don't be drunk (intoxicated) so anything that is ingested that makes you not think right and just lose control is prohibited. If you can have booze or other stuff and be in control then its pretty much not prohibited.
