Aqua is gorgeous with brown. Put some aqua pillows and a throw on the sofa. Get some art with aqua in it and an aqua carpet or area rug.

Get a lamp and some paintings/wall art in the color(s) you want to add. Pale blue or pink, forest green, navy blue, orange or burgundy would work well, but avoid all shades of yellow as it will clash with the cream. Mint green would work, too, but compare the exact shade to the brown first. Another good idea is to add matching throw pillows to your sofa. For a subtle touch, put up some colored candles here and there.

A deep orange or burnt orange would go with the brown. Also, maybe cream color and brown print chair or throw pillows if your sofa is a solid cream. If you are female, you may want to put pink to compliment the chocolate brown. That's really in right now in clothing.

Ad a multi-color area rug under the coffee table in front of the sofa.

You can put in other thing with a color like yellow, blue or beige. Always consider the color of a curtain to have a perfect harmony as a whole.

I think gold will warm it up nicely , you can also add sage and burgundy for a softer touch.

To lighten it up go with yellow or a light blue.
If you want to darken it try burgandy or forest green.

A deep blue might be good--you need some color.
