A few years ago, I bought some non-fat ice cream. It wasn't all that good so the partially empty container was in my freezer for awhile. When I took it out of the freezer, it looked like plastic. After several hours out of the freezer, it still looked like plastic. I haven't bought any fat free ice cream since then.

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE from being PLASTIC...
( this fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated , this means hydrogen is added changing the molecular structure of the food )
YOU can try this yourself, purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area, within a couple of days you will note a couple of things, no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it,( that should tell you something) it does not rot, smell differently...Because it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on it, even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow...Why? because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your tupperware and spread that on your toast?

What I hear from my friend who teaches biology at a university is that margarine is healthier in the sense that there's less fat in margarine. However, margine is one molecule away from being plastic.

There are SOOoOOoOoo many health myths out there.
One general rule of thumb is:
Once humans try to chemically alter a food product and mass produce it, DON't eat it! Stick with Raw and Organic foods!
If you follow that rule, you will be alot healthier.

Margarine is not necessarily healthier than butter, but it's not plastic, either.
Peace!

When rats, mice, and flies won't touch it that should tell you all you need to know.
