My cat Little One has a serious plastic fetish. He'll chew on any type of plastic he can find. He's not eating it (yes, I'm certain), but I find chewed up plastic all around the house. I usually don't bother him when he does this (I find it kind of amusing), but I'd like to know why some cats are so facinated by this.

Oops. Forgot to mentions that he's 2.5 year old, and weighs about 25 pounds (ballooned up after he was neutered). He eats both wet and dry food. Hungry isn't in his vocabulary (LOL).

Probably to strengthen his teeth. my cat has a paper and yarn fetish (we cannot leave yarn out because she DOES eat it!). She will also chew through any plastic bag to check and get at the contents (especially if it is bread). She chews through the bag, then eats the bread. In Little One's case, though, I suspect it is just he way of keeping strong, clean teeth. Ask your vet about it. Maybe they can suggest a chewing alternative. Bitter apple spray from your local pet supply store should put an end to his chewing. Orange is another smell that cats cannot stand.

a vet screening isn't out of the question, as nutrients subject matters would nicely be a component. also, verify his enamel. If he hasn't ever had a cleansing finished then he would nicely be due. His gums would nicely be sore and he might want to easily be attempting to alleviate some discomfort. puppy degrees makes cat chew toys that crinkle like luggage yet are probability-free to chew on. additionally they make kitten teething toys that you'll soak in water and freeze which will sooth sore gums. as for pooping outside the clutter field, this can merely be because of the colour of the floor, there would nicely be some clutter on the floor, or he merely undeniable ignored. A vet screening will safeguard medical concerns. as for stupid issues cats do, my oldest kitty likes to chew on wrapping paper ribbons. the more not pricey they are they better they chew in accordance to her. I truly could be careful in the course of the vacation journeys or the delivers lower than the tree are lined in cat spit and hair. She also likes the shielding luggage my husband places on his comic books. flow fig, cats are quirky.
