The last time I was in Denver, I went looking for them but they're all gone! Best chicken I've ever had...or, at least, that's how I remember it.

I worked as a waitress at the one in Scottsdale in 1970 when I was a 15 year old high school junior. The owners, or at least the people who ran the place, were from Denver. They were really nasty people to work for. I quit after only a few weeks. It was my first "real" job, and a terrible experience. With the way they treated their employees I m not surprised they didn t stay in business.

What amused me most was the model trains going around the walls near the ceiling all throughout the
reastaurant. They also had great tasting chicken dishes and it was affordable. I went to school at
Colorado Boulevard near Valley Highway. That was in 1966 and again in 1971. I had an apartment in
Glendale. I guess the Celebrity Sports Center is gone too. Anyone remember that?

I live in North Denver, Federal Heights to be exact, there used to be a Drumstick on 84th and Huron. Now it is called Wishbone and they moved to like 97th and Federal. They still have really good chicken.

The Drumstick restaurants closed in the 70"s and one particular building in Lakewood still stands and has been a bingo hall but for lease now.

the owners were from Texas and had a daughter that sang country music. I worked there all through high school and busted my *** to keep up with the volume of customers every day

I managed the Drumstick at 6135 East Evans until about 1980 when they ran out of business. I loved that restaurant, and it was great tasting food, but because of the sit down family style business, they could not keep the prices low enough to compete with the Colonel Sanders mostly take out chicken.
