no PERSON is around to hear the sound but there are animals all over and they have ears to hear.

A piece of string is as long as you want it to be.
A tree falling in a forest does make a sound, falling
& hitting the ground makes vibrations, so whether
someone is there hearing the sound does not make
any difference, the vibrations are always in motion.
