You asked. I answer!

Stage a collective national consumer gasoline boycott making a statement over a single day expressing our anger and dissatisfaction with OPEC AND OIL COMPANY SHORT TERM price-fixing of crude oils and petroleum products. The boycott would back up the flow of crude oils in transit to the refineries AND the volumes IN STORAGE FACILITIES would overflow reminding the oil producers and the entire oil industry that we have had enough and that we don't appreciate the price fixing contracts imposed by OPEC--- now taking place with the willing consent and profiteering of our unpatriotic, greedy major oil companies, and the tacit approval of a Federal Government which (since Carter left office in 1980) in reaction to the oil embargo of 1973/4 REALLY HAVE done absolutely LITTLE or NOTHING to reduce our dependence on Middle East crude oils by developing alternative non-fossil based energy sources to improve US national security.

Here's some thoughts for you economic geniuses. First, it's a free market. If you don't like the price of fuel, don't buy it. If you think it's too expensive, use less. Buy a car that gets 30 mpg instead of 15. That's what I did. Second, where are all you bleeding heart commies who think the government has some magical control over the price of products you think are too expensive when the price of houses triples in five years? You're trying to sell your house for a profit, right? You paid a hundred and fifty grand, now you want 600 grand for it. What's the difference between gas and your house? Nothing. They're both necessities. Do we see public outcry every time someone makes two hundred grand on their house? No. in fact, we celebrate them. We even have infomercials that play at two in the morning so you too can get rich in real estate. The only people who complain about the price of fuel are the ones too dumb to do anything to cut their fuel expenses, or the people who only get a raise when minimum wage goes up.

Peace in the Middle East. When they say the price of crude is so much per barrel, that's the price OPEC charges us. Exxon and ther companies here, are refineries. While theoretically a presidential administration can cap the prices at the pump, if the refineries don't make a profit, they will go out of business, and we can't do a thing about the price of crude oil., except reduce demand by not using so much. Get smaller cars, ride the bus or get bicycles, plan your route to reduce the number of trips, stuff like that.

You can blame politics and administration and other factors. However, the only true way of making gas prices cheap is if we had a surplus of crude oil to manufacture gas. That isn't going to happen because everyone is depleting the world supply faster than the world naturally takes to produce it (it takes a very long time). All we really can do is find alternative fuels in the long run. As for the whole bush thing, the east coast gets their fuel mostly from the middle east and mostly from the united arab emirates and saudi arabia ish. the west coast gets their fuel from south america - particularly venezuela. You know how that's going. . .

usa would have to get some oil out of its reserve, drill harder in alaska, or make a deal with canadian govt for Canadian OilStone products. tap a reserve or find a cheaper source.
that or if all freight-liners in america went on strike about oil prices.

set a sealing price on gasoline. kinda like they did in hawaii but dont set it so high that the oil company raises prices to match it.

New sources of fuel that are cheaper and more efficient than gasoline and sanctions against oil companies to limit how high they can raise fuel prices.

Two things will bring the price of oil down. Reduce consumption and get rid of the oil friendly creep in the oval office and his loyal minion...the dick....
