I recently discovered that a good friend of mine is bulimic and it worries me a lot. She wants help and I want to get her into some counseling. I'm in the Monroe Louisiana area so does anyone know where she could go to get some help that is close? Any advice on the whole situation is appreciated. Thanks

You might try looking in the phone book under County Mental Health Services. Mental Health provides counseling and I'm sure they can provide information for your friend. Good luck and you are a great friend to this person for trying to get help for them.

You could try calling the Girls and Boys Town National Hotline at 1-800-448-3000 http://www.girlsandboystown.org/hotline/index.asp
I have called them in the past for help and they were really supportive. I'm sure they would know where you could go for additional help. It's really great of you to be there for your friend at this time. She really needs some help, make sure she gets some.

Contacting your local health care provider (hospital, mental health care facility) would be a great first start. They should be able to reference you to a suitable counselor or treatment center. Best wishes.

Bulimia could be because of a psychological problem.Consult the nearest clinical psychologist/behavioural therapist.

If she wants to stop, maybe Overeaters Anonymous would be able to help her. Get her to check out their web site
