You are probably still in high school. At the age of 20 I was living with my parents who were controling!!! I could only date guys who my mother approved of. If she didn't like him then I couldn't date him. I wasn't allowed to have a lock on my door, had to ask permission to go to the gym and go out. I wasn't allowed to spend the night at anyones house I had a 2am curfew and if I was 3 or 5 minutes late she would blow up my cell phone. Also they had the nerve to tell me I wasn't allowed to move out. Finally one day I moved out while they were both at work and they were hurt and upset for a while, but they accepted that fact that I moved was because of how they were. My point is, your mom probably just doesn't like the guy because his appearance, manners, or the way he looks. Parents are way judgemental. Everytime I'm with my mother, she makes tons of comments about anything she sees, whether it's about a guy with tatoos, piercings, the way their hair is and by their appearance. Who is she to judge? I moved back in with my parents recently and my mother knows she no longer has control over my life. Older people can't change the way they act easily, so there isn't much I can do about her opinions. My suggestion is get a good job and move out, that way you can have your freedom and your life.

I would seriously ask your mom why? Usually mothers have great intuition when it comes to who their children are involved with. Just ask her why, and you have to have an open mind when she responds. She may see things about this person you don't.
My mom warned me about a girl I dated when I was 19. 10 years and a 7 year old beautiful child later, I have to tell you she was absolutely right. If I could make that decision again I would have listened to her. Now I have baby mama drama!

She is a Mom, you have to bare with her and if he is a good guy then she will see it, You tell guy that Mom doesn't take to new poeple very well and give her time. Other than that there isn't anything you can do. If you are being honest with yourself and he is a good guy then give your Mom several weeks and approach her about it if she hasn't warmed up to him. Good luck.

Well, of course, you know why she doesn't like him...it's all the reason you do like him. It's not unusual for a girl to pick a guy that is 180 opposite what her mom would want her to pick. Not that you did it for that reason, you just happen to like everything she does not. And chances are you like a 'risky' guy....I'll bet he is not a homebody president of the chess club.

moms are always right, if she doesnt like him.. kick him to the curb. i just broke up with my boyfriend of a year a few days ago... my parents didnt like him and tried to tell me that he needed to go. it took me a year to realize they were right! so listen to her,, she knows what shes talking about!

There is probably a good reason that your mother does not like the guy. Move on.

Your mom is looking out for your long-term interests. If you hurry, you're looking for instant gratification (which will not last long).
