Note: I never implied that the French started this particular investigation (in fact, I'm not sure they ever would considering their perceived focus on Armstrong), I was referring to the continued mud-slinging at Lance, even AFTER his retirement.

The Frenchies can't help themselves. This latest blow up will only encourage them to keep crying wolf about Lance. For them, this is the proof that Lance cheated.

The "froggies" aren't doing this. The investigation began in Spain concerning a doctor who has been charged with providing EPO, growth hormone, blood transfusions....... The investigators have been building a list of any and all riders who alledgedly had contact with this doctor. No one has been charged yet only implicated. As a result CSC and T-Mobile withdrew Basso, Ullrich, Savilla. TDF organizers have also asked implicated riders to leave. And the team that started this all, Liberty-Seguros which became Astana-Wurth has nearly every rider BUT Alexander Vinokourov on The List so they are told they will not be welcome.

Personally I don't think the riders should be excluded until there are formal charges - its happened in the past and riders continued through implications. Lance won 7 Tours through implications so why are these implicated riders different????

The investigators should pat themselves on the back for eliminating some of the biggest and best contenders. And as a big fan of Vinokourov (who is not implicated) I think it is a great disappointment that he may not get to ride in what may be his last tour.

BUT If these guys are riding on dope they deserve what they get. Maybe this will clean cycling up as that process didn't get too far after Festina in 1998.

I hate that one of my favourite sports gets so much negative attention, and I do believe there are clean riders Lance among them, but if this cleans cycling then maybe they will start getting more severe and looking deeper into the big money sports - football, basketball, baseball, hockey, american football.

Isn't it the nature of the testing program that all of the cyclists are continuously being investigated for doping? I think the decision for Ullrich, Basso, Sevilla etc. to be excluded from the Tour is a sad example of "guilty until proven innocent". The riders should be allowed to race and, if it later can be proven that any one had been doping, out go their results.

This whole situation is very sad. Does no one remember 1998? Some of these guys were racing then.

This really pisses me off! For Basso and Ulrich out of the TDF, this sucks!

If it turns out to be true, I will explode! And yes, the French should leave Lance alone!

Sadly, the accusations of doping will always haunt Lance. As he said in his most recent response, there will always be people who hold grudges and have axes to grind. My hat goes off to him for all that he's had to put up with.
