Be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. Christianity is a totally different worldview than anything else out there--we've got to literally change the way we think and see things! God the Holy Spirit does this for us. That ye may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. The point here is that not only do we have to change the way we think, but when we do that, we change the way we live too. When we have a proper, God-centered worldview then we will live out a God-centered lifestyle. Hope that helped!

lets break this verse down into 3 parts. the first part (Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world) of this verse means to me that we should try to stay away from the patterns of this world such as: partying, drinking, premarital sex, drugs, doing things just to fit in even if it is not against Gods commandments, listening to secular music, and not doing things that the world does. im not saying that you cant listen to secular music, im just saying that it doesnt help in your walk with Christ. the second part ( but be transformed by the renewing of your mind) means to me that if you fill your mind with the things of God like Christian music and just loving on people you will be transformed because you are renewing your mind with all the things of God. but you must first get rid of all the thoughts of the world. the third part (Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.) means that if you do this you will be able to tell what is of God and what is of the world. Satan tries all the time to fill your head with temptations and things that will hurt your relationship with Christ. whenever he does that to me i always pray for strength and courage that i will be able to resist Satan and his temptations. i hope this helped.
God Bless

This is a sinful world. When you turn from this world and turn to Jesus you will become a new man and your mind will be on spiritual things. Through prayer you will be able to find what God's will is for your life. When you turn to Jesus, He will always be there, He will never leave you. With The Holy Spirit residing in your heart you will be led to understand things that you could never understand on your own. The Holy Spirit will point you to Jesus. Man has many plans but God's good and perfect will is what we need.
Jesus loves you and pray that His will be done.

Chapter 11 ends with a paean of praise to the wisdom and mercy of our God. But words alone are inadequate for the worship of such a God. Our response to the grace of God must extend to the worship of God by our works as well as our words. In verses 1 and 2 of chapter 12, Paul summarizes the acts of worship which the grace of God should inspire in the life of the Christian, the presentation of our physical bodies to God as instruments of righteousness and the transformation of our minds from a mind-set dictated by the world, to that declared by the Word.

the "world's way" are usually focused around "self", or "getting ahead", or "accumulating money/wealth/fame/prestige"...
This verse is basically saying that we are to try and put God's priorities as more important than what the world teaches...
I don't know if you've ever heard the expression that someone is "worldly" --- well, if you have it refers to the fact that they are more interested in trying to attain all of those things I mentioned above, and that God takes the back seat.
This verse is telling us that these things are less important...that we are asked to conform to God's "values" as opposed to the world's. The only way to do this is through the renewal of the Holy Spirit, which changes our perspective; and helps us to see things as God does...
I hope this helps. God Bless.

It means this: many(Matt.7:13) people are (Rom.10:3)doing their own thing and not abiding by (Matt.7:21)God's will. They're observing (Jer.10; Gal.4:8-10)pagan days, birthdays, (Deut.7:3)Sunday worship and doing what they see fit.
So when the Bible says "not to be conformed"; it means not to do the practices of the world. It means you have to renew your mind into the (Luke 4:4)Will of God by (2Peter 1:19-21)letting the Holy Spirit guide you into his truth.
Example of this in the bottom of this picture of VALENTINE'S DAY

do not do what the world (or the people of the world--non belivers) do and think is right. the renewing of your mind is studying the Bible. If you study God's word, then you know what He expects of you. You can "test" wordly things--and you will know which of them is good and which of them is not for a child of God.

The ways of the world are different than the ways of God....The world may say seek retribution and God's will may be to grant forgivenss...but you have to know the ways of God to discern them from the ways of the world.

You cannot serve two masters. It is akin to worshiping false idols. You cannot want to live in a sinful world as equally as you want to serve
G-d. You must chose one or the other. There is but one G-d, and one G-d only. You either chose to serve him in this world or you choose to live fully in the world.
