Don't buy a book or two on Wicca, buy many books on it. You don't have to join anything at all. But you DO need to do loads of studying. A book or two is not going to do it. Even those of us who have been Wiccan for years still study. There's always something to learn. Power is knowledge. A good book for the solitary Witch to begin with is "Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft," by Raymond Buckland. Another is "Wicca: A Guide For the Solitary Practitioner," by Scott Cunningham.

You can begin with those, if you wish. But continue your studies always. Knowledge will make you a stronger Witch. Blessings on your Path.

Blessed Be!

If is wicca that you wish to practice, there are good books for beginners out there. Get a few and see which traditions you want to focus on. There are several.
You can also set up your own altar and dedicate yourself.
Groups can be nice for interaction and raising energy however most practitioners who are in groups started solitary and continue to practice alone within a group.
good luck and if you are ever in a group remember you can always cut out of a circle if you are uncomfortable.

Buy a book or two, read it. Worship the elements. Pour some water on the ground during the full moon while burning a candle while chanting something like " I like the earth and fire and wind and rain".
There is no real way to be wrong if it makes you feel good. Respect your surroundings, groove with the flow of life. You don't need a coven to be a witch.

There's no need for you to join a group in the least. Wicca is a path that can be walked with your own soul instead of those outside. Enjoy!

There are solitary practitioners, there is no reason one has to belong to a group to practice this religion.
