As long as it was a very light scent. I think it's kind of like confetti in an invite, it would bother people. Something subtle could be very elegant on the right style of invitation though.

I wouldn't be interested in scented wedding invites. I don't even like perfume inserts in magazines.
My invites were a very simple 5 x 5 white square with a pearl border. It was very elegant. The envelopes were all addressed by hand with a black flair pen. The return address was pre-printed by the factory. The envelope was then sealed with a wax seal. They were mailed on Valentine's day from Bridal Veil, OR.

I wouldn't buy them because most people dont keep your wedding invites for an extended amount of time unelss its your parents or very close family. We made out own wedding invites with a software kit. Hobby Lobby or Michaels has them (wait for the coupon). Making the wedding invites the theme or color of your wedding. I saw on TLC wedding invites made out of sand buckets, sand, and beach toys for a beach side wedding. Add some personality.

I used plain cream colored linen stationary and wrote each invitation and envelope by hand with black ink. (Actually, I hired a young person with excellent penmanship to do this for me.) Where convenient, invitations were delivered by hand, rather than via the Postal Service. (This same young person on his trusty bicycle.) Since there were often multiple invitations going to a single address (one for the mom & dad, one for each child, one for Granny) this was practical.
Sorry dear, I know you were hoping for less traditionalism, more enthusiasm for your innovation. But I feel that wedding frippery is already out of control and don't welcome yet further inducements to indulge in an orgy of overspending.

You have a problem here. It's a nice thought. But how would you like someone to sneeze and get goo all over their wedding invitation? Many people have allergies. I do, and I certainly would sneeze all over it without being able to prevent it. If that's how you'd like them to hear about your nuptials, proceed. Otherwise, play it safe and send unscented ones.

I wouldn't get scented cards because some people have allergies to perfumes.
