Well decafe says decafe but it does contain a little bit of caffine no matter what.. I do believe that they are different beans. Good question

I once heard that to decaffeinate coffee, they used formaldehyde. EW! It does sound silly, I admit, but since I heard that I've never drank a decaf coffee again.

The beans are heated in a chemical bath that draws the caffeine out. They turn a pale green, and are roasted and ground like regular coffee.

Most is processed by solvent to remove the caffiene but there is also a swiss water process used but the process is secret.
