The ACLU is so worried about protecting people's civil liberties and making sure that no one is offended that they allienate the liberties that this country was founded on. For example: they advocate free speech, but when someone says something that offends someone or that someone doesn't agree with, they jump down that person's throat for "hate speech." Speech is only free to them when they like what is said!

Go research the ACLU and its founder Roger Baldwin. The organization was founded by communists with the stated goal of bringing the US to communisim. The stratagy to do that was to destroy the culture through buggering the leagal system, marrage, the family unit, and the educational system. The theory is that once we are so messed up, dependent on government, riddled with crime, and no self reliance left in us, we will gladly accept a socialist/facist government to look after us.

The ACLU defended the Neo Nazi's in Skokie a couple of years ago. It was a protected free speech issue.
I can't understand a lot of stuff that the ACLU does. They seem to take cases that are high profile and represent some civil liberties issues, and they are good at barking, but when it all comes down to the brass tacks, they cave on issues.
Like strip searching children. The fourth amendment applies to children and the constitution applies to children, but when it comes to stopping the strip searching of juveniles, they cave in and accept any public excuse to justify why strip searching kids is lawful.
The ACLU takes cases more for the publicity and less for the civil liberties issues they are supposed to defend.
So, I don't get it either. They are just ineffectual to my way of thinking.

What you say is BS.
The ACLU has defended Rush's rights and well as the rights of groups as far right as the KKK and as far left as Green Peace.
They show no favoritism.
They are as American as you are, if not moreso.
