Ubuntu is based on the idea that I am because we are. It also means that I can not be if there are no other people to acknowledge my beingness. This sounds like an externally motivate system which works on the basis on an exteranal reward system of the carrot and stick model.

The carrot and stick model works! Ask any donkey. I don't see how you can relate the concept of 'ubuntu' with 'after life'. Ubuntu - "humanity towards others" - concerns the 'now'. If one practises 'ubuntu' now, a good 'afterlife' will be the reward.
As a white South African, I was always fascinated by this 'concept'.

When you say other people do you mean other humans or other beings? If other beings, yes we need other existence to compare our existence to. From what you say I wouldn't think it is an externally motivated system. It seems like a system that has no motivation.

John 3:16-18

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Well, there are other people so they can tell you that you exist if you doubt. The question is moot.
