It is not stereo typing if there is a formula used to determine good fro not as good. It doesn't distinguish a rich from a poor person who pays on time.

i think some companies use it unjustly to help them gauge what kind of person you are. i.e-if you have bad credit, and someone else applying for the same job has good credit, while you have similar resumes, i think the person with good credit is more likely to get the job. so yeah, i think it's a way of stereotyping.

No! They look at your credit history. If you pay your bills and have good debt, you will have good credit. If you don't, you have bad credit. Now if you want to stereotype the kind of person who doesn't pay their debts, go right ahead.

Of course. It is very accurate about the type of person you are and it works out to be true 95% of the time.

This is why it is stressed to keep a good credit score.

Definitely, it gives the viewer the opportunity to see if you have a "habit or history" of paying your bills or not. So, it defines two separate groups of people, ones that pay and ones that don't pay. That in itself is stereotyping.

I believe that it is a little unfair with the 7-year thing but as far as that, you don't pay your bills, who are you to complain when you can't get what you want.

It is a stereotype and a way of discriminating. It's not illegal to discriminate in this way, however. (It's only illegal to discriminate based on sex, race, religion, and the like.)

They want to know who pays their bills and who doesn't pay their bills. They don't want to loan their money to someone who won't repay them.
