Every morning when I go to get my 22mo son up, I have been finding him sleeping at least halfway under the bed. Is this common?

He's sleeping in a toddler bed now. Which is comfortable, and has no toys or stuffed animals cluttering it

I don't know if its common, but I know I used to love sleeping under the bed. There were a lot of people in my house, and for some reason I felt like I was playing a game with them by hiding. I would end up falling asleep and not waking up until the morning.

He may need time to take to the new bed, he may just feel safer with the bed covering him, or it could just be fun - like camping under a tent.
Ask him in a non-threatening way like, "You really like sleeping on the floor, huh?" Make sure he feels that it's ok to sleep on the floor, and it's not something that you'll take away from him if he answers incorrectly, and he should answer honestly.

My brother slept under the overhang of my dad's waterbed til he was 5 or 6. He was a sleepwalker. We took him to a specialist, he said there was nothing wrong with it. One day, he just grew out of it. Some kids like the 'cave-like' feel. If you just removed the crib rails, he may feel subconsciously that he may fall. Sleeping under the bed (and on the solid floor) may make him feel safer.

I did it to when I was Little , but I have to say I like the one who said make a tent on the bed.
I've seen tents in the toy stores that are made to go on a bed.
Maybe if you make the bed more fun than the floor he'll stop.I was thinking about getting one for my 2 year old.

He might just be afraid of falling out of bed so he sleeps on the floor. My 5 year old did that for like 2 years until we just put his matress on the floor and now he sleeps in "bed". Best wishes

Well, All I can say it is a phase. Just explain your son that the bed is better for him, that under the bed is dark, and the best place to sleep is his bed.

Put something under the bed so he can't get under it. and make him some kind of tent on top of the bed. It's just a normal security issue.
