neither ambulances don't put out fires, fireman do.

The ambulance burn out?? Ambulances don't put out fires they transport/help patients. So my doubt is the two houses would be beside each other burning and the ambulance would decide hey we will help the rich man. One medic one take one house the other medic would take the other.

The ambulance will probaly save the rich mans house. He has more to be saved and rich people seem to be more important than poor people. The ambulance people probaly think the rich people will reward them in some way for putting everything else off and getting to their house so fast.

Well, the poor man's house is likely to be smaller and burn faster.
But it might also be in close proximity to other homes, so the firemen might want to save the poor man's house so it won't torch the whole neighborhhod. Wheras the rich man's home is likely off by itself in a big yard and wouldn't threaten anything else.
