Anyone out there, picture your mother for a moment, and answer this question wisely:
What in the world makes you believe that your mother is really your mother?
In other words, how can you convince me that your mother is really your mother?

Answers with facts please.

People, I appreciate how much you love your mothers, but that doesn't answer my question. Allan M said "she gave birth to me" , that sounds true but how sure are you that she's the one who gave birth to you?

i know my mum is my mum because
1. my hands look like mum's
2. my legs look (unfortunately) like hers... we both have a bad case of canckles.
3. i have a photograph of me a couple of minutes old, yucky bloody lying on my mums chest... could be doctored though, although photoshop wasnt around 27and a half years ago.
i wonder if my mum is my mum because
1. she has kindness and patience in every cell of her body... i dont.
2. she has the most beautiful long straight black hair... my hair is naturally a big fat frizz, and it aint black
3. mum has beautiful satin-soft olive coloured skin... well, im as white as a sheet...

hey, now the doubts have set in... i need to go for a DNA test..

Regardless of how much I look like her and all the DNA matches, I know that my mother is my mother because of the fact that she loves me and cares about me. There is nothing that i need to know more than that. A real mother, adopted or not, will do everything they can to take as best care of you as they can. I have talked to my mother about my birth and i know that even if she did not give birth to me that she is the only mom that I could even have. No one could ever fill her shoes.

Much to my horror, I'm looking more and more like her every day.

That, and the pictures of her in the hospital, right after giving birth, holding a baby that just happened to be born on the same day that's printed on my birth certificate.

I look just like her. She passed away, but everyone in her family tells me I laugh, smile, and look just like her. I am very creative, just like she was. I know I am her daughter. The only absolute way YOU could know is with a DNA test or birth certificate.

That is an interesting question though!

A mother is a female who takes care of you and loves you no matter what you do. She doesn't have to be biological. I worked with this kid whose biologiacal mother was a crack addict when he was born. He was adopted by his aunt and he calls her mom. She is the one that has taken care of him and loves his no matter what kind of trouble he gets into. She is also the one that encourages him to do the things that he wants to do. She is more of a mother to him that his biological mother.

DNA, the fact the she's lived with me for almost 16 years ( how old i almost am), pictures that are not fake. i FEEL that she's my mother. when someone is adopted, at a certain age, they FEEL that there's something "wrong" with them...they dont belong with the family. so the feeling is a big part of it. God gave it to all of us

you'd more than likley have the same blood type, you would have similar facial features. i would say that she gave birth to you aswell, but depending on the year you were born that doesnt make a difference these days. Why ask such a strange question?

Good question. Maybe she is my mother, maybe she isn't. But she has raised me and loved me all of my life. So even if I'm not related to her, she is still me mother. you don't necessarily have to be related to be family.
