The passage is talking about that when the second coming of Christ happens that some Christians be alive and will go with him to paradise without dieing. This event is known as the rapture.
The rapture has is yet to happen that is why you haven't read about it in history or seen, as you put it, 2000 year old people.
**** And for those saying for TK to stop asking questions either
**** you are very weak and never have questioned your faith or
**** you really must not care about the lost or those who are
**** questioning their faith...
Try to think of it as while a troll may ask the question to ‘bait’ Christians into arguing (I don’t think that TK is a troll), spreading the truth about God never is a waste of time-- others reading may come to see the light of Christ because of the result of the question(s) you don’t want asked. So let others question...

First, you're assuming the author got Christ's words right. The Apostle John lived a very long time after Christ. He took a great deal of time and effort refuting the rumor that Christ had said John would live until the Ressurection. He said specifically Christ never said that. That it had been mis-heard or mis-interpreted by those nearby.
Second, there has been a very consistent tradition (call it myth, legend, whatever you like) from the first centuries A.D. that there IS one who lives until Christ's return. His name is Cassius (or Casca), the soldier who thrust the spear into Christ's side. The tradition (myth, legend, whatever) states that Christ said that since he loved war so much he would live to fight in war after war, throughout the centuries, until Christ returned.
I've never met the guy personally, but then again, I've never met you either. That doesn't mean you don't exist.

I see you have some knowledge of Scripture. Let me help you understand this. In Matt 24 Jesus give a long string of things that will happen before His return. What he is saying there at the generation that sees these things happening will not all die before he comes. Matt24:33-34 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. I know you will say that this is a cop out but it is the only way the scripture makes sense.

I totally agree but beleivers have some very interesting ways of getting around that.
A: We're technically living in a Matrix created by God which the entire world has been plugged into since roughly 50 AD
B: Jesus died but was resurected making him alive (in a sense) and therefore we are all contemporaries of Jesus.
C: Stop asking questions.

When will people realize it was all a lie, there are over 30 Gospels that where written and you only got to read three of them. The Gospel of Judah well they don't want you to read that because you might change your mind about things related to Jesus, archaeology and science are showing us a different truth that the religious groups do not want you to hear it's that simple.

The Bible should not be taken literally. They are stories or parables intended to teach morality or modify behavior. Also, the gospels were not written for 40 to over 100 years AD so much of it is hearsay or downright erroneous. Take it all with a grain of salt.

man created god. of course the bible is full of inconsistencies and contradictions. there are many books that were not included in the bible. why? could this be because the church picked and chose in order to keep the masses under sheep like control? of course the bible does say he was resurrected, so most of them were probably alive when he "returned". such a rich work of calculated fiction.

He did return. Can you spell Resurrection!
Pretty dopey question.
Also nitrox frogy needs to look at one of T.K's questions about Jesus. He definitely has a problem with him.
Stop being so wishy washy.

you need to stop taking it so literal. there are messages in the Bible you can not read it, analyze it to death and then expect to understand it. try reading what he said before and after that, and what he was trying to say.
