You can only be emotionally balckmailed it you let them. Don' tspeak to them, call their bluff. Don't say anything about wahts happening. Pretend like ti dosn't bother you. Thats where they get you, knowing that it bothers you. Take the high road and pretend like you don't care.

You need to be aware that the blackmail is going on. The trouble is we are usually put into these situations by people we genuinely care about. Think before you speak or agree to do anything, especially when you have been used in the past. Love yourself first!

Believe in your values and beliefs. Look into the person who is emotionally blackmailing you and find out why they are doing it. Talk to them about your feelings and try to resolve the issue.

Read the book "Emotional Blackmail: When the People in Your Life Use Fear, Obligation, and Guilt to Manipulate You", it has excellent advice and I know for a fact it works!

I grew up with it on both side - my dad when I was younger and my mother now.

The first thing is to realize that you can survive with out them and idon't let them see you get mad cause they will use it against you fro latter. If you don't want to do something just step away and make yourself like a wall - they will get the picture

Forgive yourself for whatever they are holding over you. Once you do that, they have lost the power. I used to drink and people would hold that over my head the stupid things I did when i was drunk, I got sober(3years ago) and I forgave myself for all the things I did wrong... they no longer try to use that against me.Remember you can not change the past only go on with your future...

Ignore them. Don't let them in.

Sadly, people like to manipulate others. You can show you don't want to be one of them by not dealing with their BS. Avoid them if you have to. It might hurt to lose a potential friend, but trust me, they really aren't your friend to begin with.
They are users.
They are scum.
