One of my favorite verses, and actually one of the two verses that I try to live my life by. The other being "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things will then be given to you".

The verse "he that seeks to keep his life shall lose it, but he that loses his life for my sake, shall find it" means to me....that the more I give up my "rights" in life, the less I go after what I think I want for myself, the more I give up pursuing the things of the "world" and the more I give up my life for Jesus to do with as He pleases...the more "myself" I truly become.

I never have felt more at peace, more my true self, then when I have given up my own will and choices and asked Jesus to guide my every step, thought, word. Funny, isn't it? You think by serving yourself you'd get what you want in life. I've found by serving Him first (which means, putting others first), that's when I've found true happiness and fulfillment.

Giving up all my vain, selfish ambitions and serving him and by extension my fellow man. It is so very easy ti be distracted by the cares and lures of this world, but eternal life in the presence of God is the reward for daily denying self and devoting ones self to the kingdom of God.

This verse is often mistaught. The word translated here as life should be translated soul. It's the greek word psuche, meaning soul. What he's saying is that we should lay down our opinions and feelings for his teachings. When we do that, we will truly find our real soul, our real self.

JESUS's Body (Physical) was Crucified on the CROSS.
When you get Born-Again (SAVED), your Body (Physical) is NOT RECREATED (yet, that come's later).
Your Body will give you a Hard Time (Physical Desire's, hunger, emotional need's, mental need's etc.) when YOU go to Follow JESUS.
To FOLLOW JESUS effectively, you have to Basically crucify those need's (die out to them, at time's) so you can:
1. READ your BIBLE, (for extended time's, at time's)
2. PRAY in your Prayer-Closet (in English and in Tounge's(in the SPIRIT))
3. FAST (for different length's of time's, try to be Led of the SPIRIT----and ALWAY's drink PLENTY OF WATER---check with Doc. befor you ever FAST!!!)
4. Assemble with Bro.'s and Sis.'s in CHRIST so GOD can HELP EVERY-ONE in that meeting (it's HARD to get to the CHURCH Building sometime's, ain't it???)
If you DON'T take up your Cross and Crucify your fleshly Worldly Human desire's that KEEP you from Following JESUS CLOSELY, you won't end up in HELL, you'll just miss-out on FEELING a lot of LOVE from JESUS, you won't be able to do much Work for HIM down here, you'll LOSE alot of REWARD's in HEAVEN----but YOU'LL make it HOME!!!!!
YOU can be a Child of GOD, on your way HOME to HEAVEN, and not make it to DISCIPLE STATUS.
Take a load-off!!!! It's YOUR CHOICE!!! Chose carfully, and consider the COST.!!! To be a Disciple of JESUS mean' s that you have to give up YOUR Idea's for your life, and Take on JESUS's IDEA's for Your LIFE!!!!!! Hope this helps!!!

I put it like this; "We can either be Self-Centered and seek only Gain and Pleasure for ourselves! OR, We can have a Concern for others and help each other without worry that we may miss out on a little Fun for our own pleasure"

It reminds me of a book I read for my daughter. It's called "The Voice". It's a funny little book, but it reminds me to listen to Christ's and God's calling in my life and to abandon all things of this earth and focus solely on eternity.

it means that if u arent willing to follow the way of jesus christ then your not really worthy of trying to even be of jesus. if u give your life to his service than you will find joy in him

It means that we have to be willing to follow Christ no matter how hard it may be.
We also must put our own will aside to follow the will of God.

That's one of those verses I think someone added into the bible over the years. You shouldn't have to ritualisticly practice worship to be accepted.
