Good for you! =) I'm Christian, but I understand and accept all that you say. You may not realize it now, and I won't press my faith on you, but when you die, God will be there, and because of the life you lead -- even though you didn't believe that He existed -- He will understand and look not at your lack of religion, but the strength of your character. I can't even imagine someone so bad that they wouldn't make it to Heaven. Especially those who lead good lives such as yourselves! Religion is only the way that some people communicate with God. You do so, from my standpoint, through love, the most basic principle of God's intention for life.
So keep at it! It's your choice whether or not to follow a religion.

think about it this way:
okay, u know about the 10 commandments, right? so lets go through and see...
we'll start with #8, "dont steal" have u ever stolen anything? even a small toy from a neighbor when u were like 5? yeah i thought so.
or how bout #6 "dont murder" the Bible says, too, that if you hate someone, you are committing murdur in your heart, and that is sin.
or even #7: "dont commit adultery." the Bible says if you look at a man (or woman) with lust ("oohh, he's fine, id like some sex with THAT") u have committed adultry in your heart.
i know im guilty of all 10 commandments. so are you. these are the rules, not the guidelines. God will not look at you for a "good life lived" at judgement day.
so, now u say im condemning u to hell to burn with the pervs and the scum forever, and you have formed your opinion that i am a harsh misunderstanding person who thinks u are a rotten lowlife and whatevr blah blah...but hear me out.
"... And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man (Jesus) be lifted up. That whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have eternal life. He that beleveth on Him is not condemned, but he that belevieth not IS CONDEMNED ALREADY because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten (born) son of God. For God did not send his son into the World to condemn the world (because it already has been condemned) but that the world through him might be saved. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. And this is the condemnation: that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light..."
see? no, you dont see? but your answer is right there. even though we look good on the outside, even perform good deeds, blah blah, that wont save us.
"for by faith are we saved, and not by works, IT IS A GIFT OF GOD, THROUGH SALVATION, TO ANYONE WHO WILL BELIEVE."
see, faith without works is dead, but so are works without faith.
here, your an atheist, listen to this story:
once, in a college class the professor asked: "can you see the trees?" "yes", the students replied. "can you see the sky?" "yes" they replied again. "can you see God in the sky? or, anywhere?" "no" the students answered. "so, the professor concluded, " that means that God doesnt exist" one brave student spoke up.."sir, can i ask a question to the class?" "sure" the professor said. "we can see the trees, yes, we can see the sky, yes, but can we see the professor's brain? then we must conclude that the professors brain doesnt exist!!"
you go, kid!!
see, it isnt logical to believe in something you cant see, but thats the amazing thing!! if you want more, contact me, ill hook you up to some amazing web sites.
love you,

You sound like a decent and loving human being. Actually, with the "god" that so many believe in, it would be better if there were more atheists. God does not send anyone to hell, I think for a lot of people, they haven't yet met the true God.
BTW, I've seen a lot of atheists on here who mock others beliefs. That's not good either.

First Jesus said that no one comes to the Father except through him. However, he also said that it is better to have never known about him that it is to have known and reject. If you are happy that is great, many Christians and Athiest believe that it is all about themselves. I am happy that you are happy but this is not about you, it is about God. Are you making God happy, are you glorifying him. It seems a little shallow to be concerned with only your happiness. I could not find a better word to use and I realize that shallow will be taken as an insult but it is not intended as one. I simply mean that there is more to life that what you see.

I am a Christian and I do not Judge you for not believing. That is your choice. But you also need to understand that it is a duty as a Christian to minister the word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
If you have people close to you that are Christians and try to pressure you to change your faith it is only because they love and care for you and want to be able to see you in heaven when our time on earth is done.
I commend you for living a good life and hope that one day you may chose to understand where we are coming from.
Good Luck!

You can be happy without God...I was for many many years. Then I found God and became even happier. Well, maybe not happier, but I felt different. Less worry, less fear. But hey...whatever works for you. If you are meant to become closer to God tomorrow then that will happen....if you are meant to become closer when you are 90, then that will happen. If you find you are closer to God through an Eastern religion, then maybe that will work for you. I'm a Christian, but I also believe that Buddhism offers a lot. I wish you the best.

Why is it so hard for Christians to understand...?
Well, I think maybe they're afraid to understand for fear it would be too devastating to them to admit their whole life was based on something that seems to defy logic. They would risk losing friends and/or family support. Its just easier for them to be told what to do and what to believe, I suppose. Or, maybe it isn't that deep. Maybe its so hard for them to understand for the same reason its so easy for them to believe in the first place. Believing doesn't require thinking. Can you imagine what would happen if the majority of Christians woke up one day saying, "Wait a minute.... this doesn't make any sense at ALL!!!" That would be the church leaders' worst nightmare. I think it would be great. Blind faith is not a virtue.

I'm a Christian and I'm not going to try to persuade you in any manner. I was alot like you once, although I have always believed in God, I was doin' my own thing. UNTIL....the day the Lord reached down and touched my heart like nothing I had ever felt.
I know there are alot of Christians out there who try to shove their belief down people's throats.
Have you ever truly been in love? I'm talkin' like the first 6 months of being with someone you are so madly in love with you can't see straight? God's love is like that. The sky seems bluer, the grass is greener, it's that same feeling (minus the sexual part) 24/7.
Forgive those of us who want to share that. We get carried away some times!!!

If believing in unicorns or your front door makes a person happy, then I am happy for them. To say you believe in yourself and love and living a good life is great, focus on that. No matter what background anyone is from, we are not judge one another. I understand where the Christians come from, because I am one, but I do not condemn or look down upon anyone no matter what. I feel its not my business what people believe or do with their life as long as they don't endanger other people. I do believe in Christianity but that doesn't mean I think any less of you or anyone else who is different. Our world is so diverse because of the different people we have in it, and I respect that. Congratualtions for knowing yourself, for if you do, you've already won.

People tend to react angrily to what they don't understand.
I think, agression arouses when it's good to carry out a research, when it's time to find our own answer to a question. But people are too lazy and ignorant so they use already existing answers.
Is happiness without God possible? Personally I don't know but many others would just say no because "other others" said so.
Many want to shout not to understand.
You know you're not the only one misunderstood by others (in this context others=ignorants)
If you're happy without Him good for you. Happy for you.

The whole thing is you have sinned. You have lied and maybe done worse things but the bible says "all have fallen short of the glory of God". That means if you lied once on your whole entire life God could still not accept you because you sinned. Jesus was he only person in the whole world who never sinned and on his death day he took every one's sins on himself and died the death of a criminal, so that you may spend eternity with him in heaven. The reason that you would go to hell is not because he didn't love you (he died on the cross after committing no sin) it's because you have sinned and you are unclean and God is so holy that he can accept nothing unclean. But if you except Jesus as your Lord and Savior he will make you clean.
