Im from New Zealand.
It depends on where in New Zealand the man is from, and whether he has had some kind of education.
I have met a good few Kiwis who cant even speak 'english' the pronounciation is rather terrible of some words.
I would prefer to listen to broken english than to somebody who has lazy english.
To whoever it was above who said that NZ has a high rate of spousal abuse, or whatever it was you were making up... I think you may have watched 'Once Were Warriors' one too many times. That story was worldly reknown, purely for the reason that each and every country can relate to it to some extent.
As for the manners, and the pulling out of chairs etc... mmm could be a bit of work done there, but hey nobodies perfect.
Kiwi guys dont expect so much from their women.
Im just not such a big fan of them myself.
But... I would prefer a Kiwi accent over an American accent any day.

I live in the USA, I love Aussie accents, but not exactly sure how different NZ accents are. I LOVE Aussie accents. I can't wait until I fly there and take all of the men for myself (young & cute only, sorry)

Don't let the accents fool you. Kiwi guys seem pretty laid back for the most part but be careful. Kiwi men largely do not know how to treat women. Spousal and partner abuse is rampant over there and good luck trying to get one to open the door for you or pull out your chair. They seem to suffer from some form of national napoleon syndrome.

Ive lived in NZ 30 years. never been hit by a guy once. Nor have any of my friends. maybe thats how the lower classes do things.
Before you make allegations toward abuse in new zealand, bryce dear, i suggest you look at the usa murder rate/ abuse rate and compare it to ours. throwing stones in glass houses isn't a smart move.
lol, and as to the actual question, i hear it daily, so its not exotic to me. but im engaged to an american and his accent makes me go "RAWR!"

Really?? Well, I'm a New Zealand man and I just talk the way I talk. Laid back, yeah, but I've never thought my accent was "hot".
I suppose each to his or her own!
