Many mothers can't let go... Yelling at you is her self-defense mechanism. When she yells, TRY to stay calm, believe me, I know it's hard! Smile and blow it off saying, mother please, and then change the subject right away like, "mother please, anyway, I'm going to the store, need anything?" Keep this up and eventually she'll come around... Important, DON'T YELL BACK! That shows that you haven't grown up and you're still under her mommy spell.

Sit down with your mom in a quiet place alone.
Tell her that you are an adult and you will make your own decisions.
Tell her that from now on if she criticizes you on the phone you are going to hang up, and if she criticizes you in person you are going to leave.
Then follow through and do what you say.
Don't get angry, just hang up or leave.
Once she realized you aren't going to take it any more she will stop it.
It worked for me.

she might be worried about you and that is the only way she can let it out....mothers do stuff like that sometimes....unless she was like that before then she just want change. All i can say is avoid her calls and call her at home when you know she isn't there and leave a message.

Her problem is, she may just want to get under your skin and get to her. You can't let her think that it's gone to continue that way. Just don't continue to argue and fight with her, that's what she wants you to do. Yes it's very juvenile and you should tell her that's what you think of her yelling at you and her telling you what's wrong with you. You could even say I love you but that's your opinion of me and I don't think that way of myself.

your mother is probably finding it difficult to accept you are old enough to live a full and independent life.
give her time. she'll will come to your way of thinking in due course. give her flowers every now and again, or make a gesture - you never know it could mellow her out overnight.

Don't get me started about my mother :)
This can be totally normal. Some women just can't stop arguing. It's just what some of them like to do. "It's my way or the highway"

It never ends. If she was that way when you were a kid then chances are she's going to be that way for the rest of your life.
Don't call her as much, maybe she'll appreciate you more.

Depends on how big of a screw up you are. Perhaps she's trying to make you passable in public and you're still just a punk?
