How many of his books do you think will be sold because he was soliciting his view here?

He is trying to keep his name in the media. He doesn't want to be forgotten. He would sell more books if he had a more intelligent argument to make about the planet than "Let's change how earth's climate changes!" Duh!

miss heather w, i cannot guess how many heavy boxes of books al gore will sell from asking the most important question of the generation x's lifetime. the person that asks that question could have much more money than i will ever see, and that is a great thing to know that al gore is the asking one.

are you so conservative against al gore making millions of dollars for writing a few words and many speeches? i think you should remember, miss heather w, that al gore used to be very conservative, so remember, you have no judgments to make.

al gore can solicit all he wants to because this is still america united. well, i saw some signs so he probably could not sell his books at places like a apartment or most businesses either, but i'm sure other places are fine.

yahoo answers does not have that type of no solicitation sign, so al gore is on firm ground from your rather short question. your one line of such suspicion cannot push him off the mountain of truth where he once stood. i hope you are happy now.

Gore is an authour? You mean he has quit his job? No wonder he's so free to come into Yahoo!Answers. I think he's not soliciting, he just wants to get more inspirations and ideas to write his books. In YA, we get interesting yet informative questions and answers, tho at times, stupid and senseless answers also surfaced too. These ideas can help in one way or another to a writer. If you still think and feel he is soliciting, you can remind him to refer to the YA Community Guidelines at the bottom of this page, or report abuse against him. Every user, be him the president of any country, big or small shot or any layman there's no gain or favour here.

Yes. Vice President Gore is doing his best to alert people to the perils we face in global warming. He has basically devoted his life to that work. It is the reason he entered politics in the first place. He learned about global warming in college and decided to follow his father into political service to our country because he felt he would have the most impact in that way. It is a very Noble and moving story. I hope he sells a lot of books and that everyone sees is movie. Our children for many generations to come are depending on us to do the right thing.

Of course, it's "free" too since Answers is more than willing to get Gore's name up here for their own advertising. It's how the media industry works in general. Why is there so much coverage about the cost of Super Bowl ads and so on...

What do you suppose he's advertising? "Hi, I'm Al Gore, and you should have voted for me when you could have!?" No, Al's passion for the environment is real. If he's advertising anything, it is convervation of energy, and a consideration for the environment.

...
It just so happens that he picks up some brownie points along the way. The revenue from his books and slideshow movies are a nice perk, too - I trust he's putting it to good use to help lift us from our oil addiction... If I ever learn that he drives one of those honking hummers/H2 trucks, though... :-@#

I think it's Yahoo's attempt at promoting this site. They've had several celebrities set up an account and ask a question that Yahoo posts to the front page of the site.

As far as I can tell, none of the celebrities who have done this so far have continued to use Yahoo Answers, so it does seem a little disingenuous. At least most of them have asked good questions, though.

Probably just as many as a lot of the other ways he, and every other writer, advertise their works. There's really no difference from doing what he did here from going on Book TV (CSPAN) or Oprah. Advertising is advertising, but it is nice that he's donating 100% of the what his book and movie bring in.

Yahoo Answers from time to time features people and/or personalities as a promotion for Yahoo Answers. Gore was invited to participate in that just like other prominent people have been.

You are entitled to bash invited guest personalities, belittle their ideas and efforts, demean their motives, and distort their message.
No question about that.

But of course, it only reinforces my impression that Conservatives have only the one single purpose in life, and that is to be against Clinton/Gore.

Absolutely not. What he is saying about "Global Warming" is the truth. I am a Canadian and i know for a fact that Global Warming is happening at an ever quicker rate. And i couldn't care less for Gore as a person.

i believe that Al will sell many books but that doesn't mean that his assumptions are wrong or that global warming isn't real.... I don't accept his premise as a whole that global warming is going to be our destroyer.. but there is a hole in the ozone layer... landfills are filling up and there is no place to put our waste and rivers that we once could swim in we can't put first big toe in because of pollution... so it can't be all bunk... so yes he is advertising, yes he will sell books, but it's not a reason to just dismiss the claims... further study is needed!
